Muscle Building Supplements

"Which Supplements, If Any, Are Necessary?"

Wow!  That's the first thing that comes to mind when I think of all the muscle building supplements on the market today.

It can seem very overwhelming trying to sift through the countless array of supplement brands and products.

If there is one thing I've learned is that my money is best spent first-most on the most anabolic substance available to you... namely FOOD.

Food should always take precedent over weight lifting supplements.

If you have a $100 budget to spend, I would say spend it on food because without the proper nutrients you are just not going to grow, no matter if you've found the best bodybuilding supplement in the world.

With that said, I do believe there are basic muscle building supplements that can be useful in the quest for muscle.

If you have the extra money to spend beyond your food bill, then these are the basic supplements that I find most useful.

I am going to list them in the order that I feel are most important.

TOP Muscle Building Supplements

Multi-vitamins

I like to use a good bodybuilding type multi like Optimum Opti-Men, instead of a generic drug store brand, which won't do much for hard trainers.

I also like to take liquid vitamins like the ones found at Seasilver Whole Food Vitamins.

Protein Powder

A good, reasonably priced, Casein Protein brand that I like to use is Optimum Nutrition.

I'll also buy other types of WPI that come on sale; usually the brands that contain the lowest amount of carbohydrates for days that I eat low carbs.

Creatine Monohydrate

I usually go with just regular creatine from the local health food store.

I'm not much into the jacked up brands like BSN NO-Xplode.

Branch Chain Amino Acids (BCCA's)

I like to use BCAA's during and after workouts for maximum recovery.

I use Scivation Xtend as I find it to be an excellent product and the flavors are really good.

Green Tea

I find NOW Green Tea Extract to be a good reasonably priced herbal antioxidant.

I like using green tea extract (instead of a pot of green tea) as it is simply less work.

Green tea is great for your overall health and I like to use it for it's fat burning properties as well.

Fish Oil

I like to use Olympian Labs Omega-3 Fish Oils but I'll also purchase any 100% Wild Pacific Salmon fish oil that comes on sale.  The enteric-coated ones will help to control any bad burping.

Bromelain

A must for proper digestion of all the protein I eat, I like to use NOW Bromelain.

Glucosamine with MSM

NOW Glucosamine & Chondroitin Plus MSM is what I use to help keep my joints healthy after heavy lifting.

When I buy my supplements I like to buy them in bulk to save money.

I like to search the net for supplement deals and will usually go with the provider with the fastest shipping times, and most reasonable prices, that's why I chose the above from products from

When in a crunch, I'll check out the muscle building supplement deals at my local health food store as well.

You may also want to check out Herbalife products; it maximizes your health and wellness and helps you to achieve your ideal weight.
